Do you feel discouraged sometimes? I sure do. As believers in Christ, sometimes we can get frustrated and tired with people or situations. We can grow tired of exercising patience with family members, friends and coworkers. We can grow tired of “always doing the right thing” and not taking short cuts. We can grow tired of putting others’ needs before our own, forgiving others and extending grace. We can grow tired of giving our time, energy, resources and attention…especially if it feels like we are not getting anything back in return. We might ask ourselves, “Why am I doing this?” or “Does it even matter?”

Brothers and sisters, I am here to remind us all that it DOES matter! It matters to our Heavenly Father. In Galatians 6:9 the Word of God tells us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” What encouragement this is for our hearts and minds. One of God’s attributes is that He is omniscient, meaning He knows all, which means He sees all. When we live righteously, with integrity, patience and love, our Father sees our actions and notices. Each and every time we are obedient to the Word of God, we are honoring The Lord and showing our faith and love to Him.

In John 14:15 Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command.” Every time we exercise forgiveness, grace, patience, mercy and love, we are saying (through our actions), “Jesus, I love you.” What an amazing act of worship this is! I want to encourage everyone to write these scriptures down and put them in a place you will see often (like your mirror or the refrigerator door). Let this be a constant reminder to press on and keep going. Continue to live out your faith in obedience, through the empowering of the Holy Spirit.
