Many times we find ourselves trying to please God by doing good works. What we don't realize is that the temptation here is to seek and accept God's glory for ourselves. People often try to come to God on their own terms. Some come through good works and some try to come through other avenues but all are futile.
The only way to come to God the Father is through our surrender to his son Jesus Christ. Good works are a result of salvation, not a prerequisite to it. We cannot use another mediator--not Mary, not an angel, and not even Abraham--but Jesus Christ alone. Our good works do not earn us extra points with God. They simply show how much we love to please him. God bless you.
